Warning | Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working at AdBlue lines and the components attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing AdBlue | Pour AdBlue into suitable containers only. Wait until the pressure is released before starting any work on the exhaust aftertreatment system.
1 | Turn off the battery master switch
Notes on use, material properties and handling of AdBlue®
2 | Open the AdBlue reservoir access cover
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
3 | Relieve the cooling system pressure

4 | Remove the cover (1) | Replace the plastic cable clamp
5 | Open insulation hoses (3,4) in approx. 10 cm length and move backwards | Roller tongs
6 | Loosen the cooling pipe (5) and AdBlue pipe clamps (6) and detach pipe nozzles | Repeat this work step on the cooling pipe (8) and AdBlue pipe (7).

7 | Loosen the electrical connector (10) and remove the electrical line from the vehicle frame | Replace the plastic cable clamp
8 | Position the claw wrench (11) in the openings (13) of the closing ring (9) | Claw-type wrench
9 | Position the lever (12) in the claw wrench (11), and turn the closing ring (9) counterclockwise, until reaching the position "open" (A) | A high degree of strength is applied to this task. Closing ring engages and disengages on impact. Do not use any extension between the lever (12) and the claw wrench (9).
Turn the locking ring (9) clockwise until the locking tabs (15) lock into the closing claw cavities.
10 | Remove the closing ring (9)
11 | Remove the AdBlue SCR combined temperature and level sensor (17) | Using a clean and damp cloth, clean the O-ring contact surfaces (16). Replace the O-ring (16). Before mounting, slightly grease the O-Ring (16).
Use as sliding agent the prescribed MB silicon grease. The application of silicon grease must be extremely moderate, otherwise you may damage the exhaust gas aftertreatment system.
ABS sensor grease | |||
12 | Install in reverse order
13 | Check for tightness of AdBlue lines (6,7) and coolant lines (5,8) in the region of the pipe connections | Just visual inspection. |
