Danger | Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel. | No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Caution | Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

| Remove/install | ||
1 | Switch off ignition. | ||
2 | Drain coolant at engine.
3 | Remove air intake line (4) on compressor (5).
4 | Remove fuel lines (2) with bracket (3) on fuel filter module (1) and bind to the side. | Fuel line bracket screw/bolt
Union nut, fuel line (fuel tank) to fuel filter module
5 | Remove compressed-air line (6) on fitting (7) for compressor (5) and check for carbonization. | If carbonization is visible,
| |||
Replace compressed-air line (6) and carbonized parts.

6 | Remove fitting (7) from compressor (5). | Installation: Replace sealing ring.
Fitting to compressor | |||
7 | Remove control line (8) from compressor (5). | Only for an engine with a dual compressor
Installation: Replace sealing ring.
8 | Remove coolant line (10). | Unlatch safety clips on coolant line (10). Collect coolant which flows out.
9 | Remove coolant line (9) from compressor (5). | Unlatch safety clip on coolant line (9). Collect coolant which flows out.
10 | Expose electric line (12) on bracket (11).
11 | Remove bracket (11). | Screw/bolt, compressor bracket to crankcase
Screw/bolt, bracket to compressor
12 | Remove screws (13, 14) and remove compressor (5) from crankcase. | Collect escaping engine oil.
Installation: Insert rear upper screw (14) before positioning compressor (5) on crankcase.
Screw/bolt, compressor to crankcase
13 | Check drive gear (15) for damage. | If the drive gear (15) is damaged,
| |||
Replace drive gear (15) and also check the relevant counter-gearwheel of the gearwheel drive for damage; replace if necessary.
14 | Remove sealing rings (16, 17) at compressor (5). | Installation: Replace sealing rings (16, 17).
15 | Remove fittings of coolant lines (9, 10) on compressor (5). | Only if the compressor (5) is replaced or the fittings for the coolant lines (9, 10) are leaky.
Install new sealing rings.

16 | Install in the reverse order.
17 | Check engine oil level, correct if necessary. | See information from body manufacturer.
18 | Start engine and perform an engine test run. | Allow engine to run at a higher rotational speed.
If engine fails to start or only runs for a brief period,
| |||
Fill fuel low-pressure circuit.
19 | Check all connections on the compressor (5) for leak tightness and stop engine. | Visual inspection. |
