Remove/install poly-V belt

Removing

 Danger!

No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle with vehicle lift

Remove expansion clips (2) and remove cover (3)

Remove poly-V belt for compressor (4)

On vehicles with code (I01) Air conditioning Plus

Loosen nut (5) on alternator (G2)

Loosen bolt (6) on alternator (G2)

Swivel alternator (G2) downwards and remove poly-V belt (1)



Checking

Check poly-V belt (1) for wear and damage



Install

Lay on poly-V belt (1) and tension through pressing upwards of the alternator (G2). Then fully tighten nut (5) and bolt (6)



Turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft belt pulley in the direction of engine rotation and check belt tension of poly-V belt (1) at a number of locations; retension poly-V belt if necessary (1)

 Measurement of the belt tension must only occur for engine temperatures under 40°C. The value of the belt tension must be about 330 N. The retension limit is about 200 N.



Position cover (3) and install expansion clip (2)
