| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove nozzle holder combination
2 | Remove cylinder head (3)
3 | Measure valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K) and difference between both inlet valve shaft ends (J) using a dial indicator (4) and dial indicator holder (5) | The valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K) and the difference between both intake valve shaft ends (J) must lie within the permissible tolerance.
Machine or replace the relevant valve seat ring if the read off test specifications are outside the permissible tolerance.
Valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K)
Permissible difference of intake valves (1) measured between the cylinder head (3) and valve stem end
| |||
| |||
| |||
| |||
4 | Remove valve springs (8) and valve stem seals (7) | Installation: Use new valve stem seals (7).
Ensure correct seating of the valve locks (10) in the valve spring retainer (9) and in grooves on the valve stem.
| |||
| |||
| |||
5 | Mark intake valves (1) and exhaust valve (2) relative to cylinder head (3)
6 | Remove intake valves (1) and exhaust valve (2) from cylinder head (3)
7 | Clean valve guides (6) using cylinder brush (12)
| Checking | ||
8 | Check inside diameter of the valve guides (6) with drift (11) for wear. | Inside diameter (machining dimension)
| |||
If the side marked "+" of drift (11) can be inserted in valve guide (6):
Replace corresponding valve guide (6).
9 | Check valve seat rings in cylinder head (3) | The valve seat rings must not have any surface damage and must not be burnt; machine or replace valve seat rings if necessary.
10 | Check intake valves (1) and exhaust valve (2) for wear | The valve stems must have no surface damage. The grooves in valve locks (10) must not be worn and the chrome layer on valve stems must not be damaged. The valve seats must not be burnt; replace the respective intake valves (1) or respective exhaust valve (2) if necessary.
11 | Install in the reverse order |
