Unfasten double clamp from right-hand side of oil pan (16)

 Only loosen (do not remove) the screw/bolts, turn the double clamps by 90° and place the transmission oil cooling lines on the front axle carrier.

Detach bracket for transmission oil cooling lines from oil pan (16)

 Bolt, oil line from oil cooler to engine oil pan

Detach rack-and-pinion steering at front axle carrier and lay to one side on front axle

Detach front axle transmission at front axle and lay to one side on front axle

Remove screw/bolts connecting transmission to oil pan

 Bolt, automatic transmission to engine

Undo bolts (15) on oil pan (16)

 Installation: Pay attention to different screw/bolt lengths and screw/bolt diameters.

 Bolt, oil pan to cylinder crankcase/ timing case cover/rear end cover

Unfasten oil pan (16) from cylinder crankcase and remove

Notes on sealant path for oil pan

 If oil pan (16) cannot be unfastened from the cylinder crankcase, heat up the sealing surfaces of the oil pan (16) using a hot air gun. Then slip an assembly wedge between sealing surfaces, to separate oil pan (16) from cylinder crankcase.

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on oil pan (16) and oil pan bottom section (11)

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order

Read out fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and delete if necessary



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check for leaktightness with engine running

Check engine oil level approx. 5 min. after switching off the engine at operating temperature and correct if necessary


Vehicle must be horizontal and standing on its wheels.
Measurement errors occur otherwise.
