Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism.

When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m).

Move the wiper arms into park position and switch off the wiper system

Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit

 On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off.
Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).

Open engine hood (1) and raise to vertical position

Remove wiper arms (2)

Remove and install wiper arm

Loosen rubber seal (3) in area of water diverter (4)

 Installation: Ensure that rubber seal (3) is seated correctly at water deflector (4).

Unclip water diverter (4) from apex seal of windshield (arrows A) and remove it

 If necessary, lower engine hood (1) slightly.

 Moisten upper edge of water deflector (4) with soapy water. Detach water deflector (4) beginning on one side toward top (arrows B).

 Installation: Moisten upper edge of water deflector (4) and seal strip of windshield with soapy water.

 Installation: Note installation position of water deflector (4) in seal strip of windshield.
