Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices | No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards. Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground. Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
2 | Disconnect battery ground line | See information from vehicle manufacturer.
| Notes on battery | ||
3 | Open engine hood | See information from vehicle manufacturer.
4 | Remove oil filter cap (5) from oil filter housing | The engine oil flows back into the oil pan when the oil filter cover (5) is unscrewed.
Installation: Check sealing ring and oil filter on the oil filter cover (5); replace if required.
| |||
5 | Drain and collect coolant | Installation: Fill coolant up to proper level.
6 | Remove charge air pipe (1) together with charge air hose (2)
7 | Remove air intake pipe (3) together with air intake hose (4) | Seal hole at turbocharger.
8 | Remove oil pressure line (6) | Catch any escaping engine oil and dispose of in an environmentally friendly manner. Seal hole in turbocharger.
Installation: Replace sealing rings for banjo bolt.
| |||
9 | Disconnect electrical connectors (8) | Mark electrical connectors (8).
10 | Remove screw/bolts (7) | Installation: Insert bolt (arrow) into hole before attaching oil/water heat exchanger (9). Do not tighten down screw/bolts (7) and screw/bolts (9.1).
| |||
| |||
11 | Remove oil-water heat exchanger (9) out of crankcase | Catch escaping coolant and engine oil and dispose of in an environmentally friendly manner.
12 | Remove seal (9.5) from oil-water heat exchanger (9) | Installation: Replace seal (9.5).
13 | Unscrew screw/bolts (9.1) and remove housing cover (9.2) from heat exchanger (9.4). | Installation: Put screw/bolts (9.1) in place and only tighten down onto crankcase after attaching the oil-water-heat exchanger (9).
14 | Take seal (9.3) out of housing cover (9.2) | Installation: Replace seal (9.3).
15 | Install in the reverse order
16 | Check coolant level and correct if necessary
17 | Fill engine oil circuit |
