 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Pressurize compressed-air system up to the cutoff pressure

Switch off ignition

Open engine hood

 See information from vehicle manufacturer.

Drain coolant

Remove engine cover over the compressor (1)

Check return flow valve in pressure regulator for air drier for leaktightness

 To do this unscrew union nut for air line (5) on screw-in fitting (6). Unfasten compressed air line (5) from screw-in fitting (6) connector. No air should flow out of the air line (5).

If air flows out then the return flow valve in the pressure regulator of the air drier must be replaced.

Push away air line (5) to the side together with the cooling spirals and tie up with cable ties to the frame

Remove coolant pipe (2), bracket (3) and coolant hose (10) completely

Remove power steering pump (9)

Detach coolant lines (4, 6)

 Installation: Install new sealing rings.



Remove suction line (7) on compressor (1) and swivel upwards

 Installation: Check suction line for correct seating and damage.

Remove compressor (1) at crankcase

 A fitting tool for removal/installation of the bolts (11) can be ordered on the Internet at www.snapon.com.

 Adapter 3/8" on 1/4"
(order no. GFAT1E),

 1/4" 50 mm
extension (order no. TMXWK2),

 1/4" 100 mm
extension (order no. TMXWK4),

 1/4" 150 mm
extension (order no. TMXWK60),

 1/4" Torx-socket ball joint E12
(order no. TSE120).

 Collect engine oil which flows out.

Installation: If the compressor (1) with a 393 cm3 displacement is installed the outer upper screw/bolt (11) M1040 must be replaced by a shorter screw/bolt (11) M1025. The compressor (1) will not be fastened properly otherwise.

Installation: First tighten inner top screw (11), then tighten the remaining screws (11).



Remove compressor (1)

Remove screw-in fitting (6)

 Only if compressor (1) is replaced.

 Installation: Install new sealing ring.



Slacken nut (14) and use puller (16) to pull off drive gear (13) at compressor (1), then screw nut (14) downwards

 Only if drive gear (13) is replaced.

 Attach blocking device to compressor (1) and secure with nut (15).



Remove O-ring (12) at compressor flange

 Installation: Install new O-ring (12).



Checking

Check screw-in fitting (6) and air line (5) for carbonization

 If necessary replace carbonized components.

Install in the reverse order

Check engine oil level at electric gage, adjust to correct level if necessary

 See the Operator's Manual .

Check coolant level and correct if necessary

Check engine cooling system for leaktightness

 Visual inspection.

Check compressor (1), air line (5) and power steering pump (9) for leaktightness

 Visual inspection.
