2080.10 - Replacement of coolant Engines 102, 115, 601, 602, 615, 616, 617

Service product

1) Water and corrosion/antifreeze agent in mixture ratio 50:50% by volume.

2) Not for engines 102, 601, 602. For these engines the corrosion/antifreeze agent specified in accordance with Page 325.0 is mandatory.

Notes

Coolant replacement must be endorsed in the maintenance booklet.

Before replacing the coolant, check coolant and heating system for leaks and condition (operation 2050).

Caution! Open engine cooling system cap only at a coolant temperature below 90°C to avoid scalding!

Environmental protection note

Coolant is classified as special waste according to the waste law.

Disposal must be carried out according to regulations.

Environmental protection catalog of MBVD must be observed in the Federal Republic of Germany.

 Turn cap (1) of engine cooling system to the 1st notch, release overpressure. Continue turning to the 2nd notch, remove cap and check coolant level.

 Open heat control valve.

 Unscrew coolant drain plug or open drain valves. For improved collecting of the coolant, connect a drain hose to the drain valves.

The drain plugs or drain valves are located:

- On the radiator;

Note

The bleed screw on the thermostat housing provided on some 616 engines (65 HP) must be screwed out to bleed the engine cooling system.

 Check seals of drain plugs, replace according to condition.

 Screw in drain plugs or close drain valves.

 Prepare coolant in the specified composition and fill up to the mark in the filler neck or to the maximum mark on the coolant expansion tank.

Close the cooling system.

 Start engine and run for approx. 1 minute at varying speeds.

 Switch off engine and top up with coolant to the specified coolant level.

 Test screw plugs and drain valves for leaks.
