Release tension on generator poly-B-belt and remove from generator belt pulley (3)

 Installation: Inspect condition of poly-V-belt of alternator, replace if necessary. Observe damage profiles and routing diagram for poly-V-belt.

Remove bracket (1) for fan drive

 Installation: Observe different bolt lengths (arrows).



Detach oil filler line at oil pan and fan surround

Remove the cover (14) of the belt pulley of the fan drive (15)

Attach rotating device to timing case

Detach the belt pulley of the fan drive (15) from the belt pulley/vibration damper (16)

 Installation: Check belt pulley of fan drive (15) for wear, replace if necessary.



Take off belt pulley/vibration damper (16)

 Use turning device to block the flywheel.

 Installation: Check belt pulley/vibration damper (16) for wear, replace if necessary.



Remove the slinger (19)

 Installation: The slinger (19) must be installed with the flat side towards the belt pulley/vibration damper (16).

Remove screw plug (17)

 Installation: Remove sealant on the screw plug (17) and on the thread in the crankcase.

Replace sealing ring (18) and tighten screw plug (17) without sealant.



Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.

Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.

Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and carry out engine test run, check screw plug (17) for leaks
