The design of adapter has been modified. The previous version (A) of the adapter (1) had a fixed, integrated handle (1.1).
With the new version (B), the handle (3) on adapter (2) can be attached or detached.
Modification of the adapter (1) was necessary as maximum values of only 25 bar were measured during the compression test. This resulted in misjudgment regarding the engine condition and in uncertainty and confusion among the workshop personnel.
The new version (B) of the adapter (2) was developed in order to counteract the uncertainty and the increasing queries regarding the correctness of the measured values.
The specifications regarding compression pressure are calculated values and may be different from the actual measured value. The measured value depends on the length and diameter of the bore in the adapter (1 and 2).
The wear value of 17 bar and the permissible difference of 4 bar between the individual cylinders must be maintained during the compression test if the previous version (A) of adapter (1) is being used. This must strictly be taken into consideration during assessment of the condition of the engine.
In order to avoid misjudgment regarding the engine condition, we recommend that the new version (B) of adapter (2) be used for the compression test.
