B22 Fuel fill level sensor
Since December 2006 a modified fuel fill level sensor (B22) has been installed in series production.
The fuel fill level sensor (B22) with immersed tube sensor installed previously has been replaced by a fuel fill level sensor (B22) with float-and-lever sensor. This is equipped with a so-called magnetic passive position sensor.
When inspecting defective fuel fill level sensors (B22) with float-and-lever sensor it is found increasingly that the measuring levers (7) have been damaged during removal. This has effects on the correct analysis of the damage cause.
As it cannot be established from outside, which fuel fill level sensor (B22) is installed, we would point out that when removing, the fuel fill level sensor (B22) always has to be pulled carefully upwards out of the fuel tank.
In the event of careless removal and installation of the fuel fill level sensor (B22) with float-and-lever sensor, the measuring lever (7) consisting of a thin wire and the measuring electronics may be damaged.
The repair instructions for the installation and removal of the fuel fill level sensor (B22) have been revised accordingly.
