Diagnosis/fault storage

All inputs and outputs are checked for plausibility during operation.

Fault storage

All faults lasting > 0.5 s 1) are stored in the diagnostic trouble code memory of the DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8).

Fault display

Faults occurring in one of the components listed below

for >1.0 s 1) are indicated by the illumination of the EDC malfunction indicator lamp (A1e34).

The EDC MIL (A1e34) illuminates when a malfunction is detected in at least one of the following components:

 Crankshaft position sensor (L5/6)

 Distributor pump (Y23/2)

 Cam ring position sensor (Y23/2I1)

 Distributor shaft position sensor (Y23/2I2)

 Shut-off valve (Y23/2y1)

 Check valve Y23/2y2)

 Adjusting valve (Y23/2y3)

 Supply valve (Y23/2y4)

 DFI [EVE] accelerator pedal position sensor (R25/2)

 Overvoltage protection relay (K1) Model 202 to 05.96

 Relay module (K40), Model 210

 Relay module (K40/4) Model 202 as of 06.96

Reading DTC memory

The stored faults can be read and deleted using the hand held tester (HHT) and multiplexer via the datalink connector (X11/4).

Fault ambient data

The fault ambient data at the time the fault was stored can

also be displayed with the HHT. The display screens are located in menu item 2, "Stored faults" or faults against a light background
