Task
The fuel distributor fuel pressure sensor detects the fuel pressure in the fuel distributor.
The fuel pressure is transmitted to the combustion engine control unit as a voltage signal. The combustion engine control unit needs the fuel pressure in order to actuate the quantity control valve in line with demand.
Function
The fuel pressure in the fuel distributor is measured by an integrated, capacitive measuring element in the fuel distributor fuel pressure sensor.
When fuel pressure increases, the gap between the capacitor electrodes decreases. The capacitance, and therefore the signal voltage, thus increases in proportion to the fuel pressure.
