Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.
| Procedure for a damaged or leaky air conditioning system | ||
| Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work | ||
| Notes on handling R134a refrigerant | ||
1 | Drain air conditioning (recycle) | Note quantity of extracted compressor oil.

2 | Remove wiper system | ||
3 | Unscrew nut (4) | ||
4 | Detach suction line (2) and pressure line (3) from expansion valve (1) | Seal openings of intake line (2) and pressure line (3) to prevent dirt or moisture from entering.
Set of plugs for air conditioning system
5 | Remove screws/bolts (5) and remove expansion valve (1) | Seal openings of suction line (7) and pressure line (8) to prevent dirt or moisture from entering.

Install | |||
6 | Replace sealing rings of suction line (7) and pressure line (8) and moisten thread of screw/bolt (5) with compressor oil
7 | Screw screw/bolt (5) into retaining plate (6), pull retaining plate (6) forward and counterhold with a suitable screwdriver
8 | Remove screw/bolt (5) from retaining plate (6)
9 | Position expansion valve (1) and screw in screws/bolts (5) | Tighten screws (5) alternately to prevent canting.
| |||
10 | Install suction line (2) and pressure line (3) at expansion valve (1) and screw in nut (4) | Suction line (2) and pressure line (3) must not rest against body, otherwise the suction line (2) or pressure line (3) may be damaged.
Replace sealing ring and moisten thread with compressor oil.
| |||
11 | Install wiper system
12 | Replace fluid reservoir
13 | Evacuate air conditioning system, replenish and check for leaks | Too much or too little compressor oil can damage the refrigerant compressor.
