Risk of explosion caused by escaping hydrogen or overheating of the fuel tanks when working on the hydrogen system. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching component parts carrying gas when emptying fuel tanks. Risk of asphyxiation caused by inhalation of air diluted by hydrogen. Risk of burn injuries by coming into contact with an invisible pale blue hydrogen flame.

Print out "tank system, fuel cell, form event log," fill out, and attach to the vehicle somewhere clearly visible.



Remove exhaust end pipe.

Remove fuel cell cover (1).

Release screw clamp (2).

 Front waste air hose hose clamp to rear muffler at front/front exhaust air pipe

Remove front fuel cell waste air hose (3) at charge air noise damper (4).

Remove lower engine compartment linings.

Remove underfloor panelings in area of fuel cell exhaust air pipe.

Release hose clamps (5).

 Rear waste air hose hose clamp to front exhaust air pipe/center exhaust air pipe

Remove rear fuel cell waste air hose (6).

Disconnect air processing unit exhaust air pipe (7) at front fuel cell exhaust air pipe (8).

 Installation: Check O-ring for damage and that it is correctly seated.

If there is a problem,



Correctly position and/or replace O-ring.

Remove screws/bolts (9).

 Bolt, center exhaust air pipe to voltage converter (power electronics control unit)/anode water separator holder

Remove front fuel cell exhaust air pipe (8) from water separator housing (10).

 Installation: Check O-ring at water separator housing (10) for damage and that it is correctly seated.

If there is a problem,



Correctly position and/or replace O-ring.

Remove front fuel cell exhaust air pipe (8) together with front fuel cell waste air hose (3).


Always remove/install front fuel cell exhaust air pipe (8) together with front fuel cell waste air hose (3).
As a process-consistent assembly in the vehicle is not possible.

Remove screws (11).

Unscrew nut (12).

 Nut, exhaust air pipe to body/holder

Remove bolts (13).

 Screw, rear exhaust air pipe to assembly frame for fuel tank

Unclip rear fuel cell exhaust air pipes (14) from plastic mounts (15) and remove.

Install in the reverse order.
