Remove rack-and-pinion steering (1)

Remove rubber boot

 Only on the side on which the inner tie rod (3) is to be removed.

Unscrew inner tie rod (3) with axial joint (4) from steering rack (2)


 Counter the steering rack (arrows) otherwise the rack-and-pinion steering (1) may be damaged.

 The bolted connection must be free of oil and grease.

Checking

Check steering rack (2) for corrosion

 If the steering rack is already corroded or the steering is leaking, the rack-and-pinion steering (1) must be replaced complete: 

Install in the reverse order

Installation: Replace sealing ring (5).
