Deactivate easy entry/exit function

With code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)

Turn steering wheel into center position (front wheels in straight-ahead position) and fix in position with retaining device


The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling (6) has been detached.
Otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.

Detach steering coupling (6) from rack-and-pinion steering (10)

 Installation: Replace self-locking nut.

Disconnect electrical connector from speed-sensitive power steering (Y10)

With code (213) Speed-sensitive power steering

 If necessary, detach cable tie from electrical line.

Remove screw (7) from rack-and-pinion steering (10)


Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.

Pry clamping plate (9) off rack-and-pinion steering (10) and pull out oil lines (13, 14)

 Installation: Replace O-rings.

Support rack-and-pinion steering (10) and secure to prevent it from falling down

Remove screw/bolt (10c) from additional bracket or additional mounting of rack-and-pinion steering (10) to front axle carrier (3)

 Bolt, steering gear rack-and-pinion steering to front axle carrier

Detach rack-and-pinion steering (10) from front axle carrier (3) by unscrewing bolts (10a, 10b)

 For engine 156 the retaining plate (8) is fastened using 4 bolts (10a) to the front axle carrier (3).

 Installation: Replace nuts and bolts.

Take out retaining plate (8) with rack-and-pinion steering (10)

Install in the reverse order

Fill power steering pump and bleed
