 Warning

Risk of injury caused by touching hot retarder and by scalding from hot retarderoil. Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by retarder oil escaping under high pressure

Do not carry out any work unless retarder is switched off. Wear suitable protective clothing and safety glasses when working on the hot retarder.

Remove/install

Switch off vehicle ignition

 Make sure that the auxiliary brake activation (retarder) is in the "0" (zero) position.

 Only carry out the work when retarder is off.

Remove the proportional valve

Unscrew the hex screws (1 to 13)

 Unscrew in descending order, start at the screw (13) and end at the screw (1)

 Installation: Screw in ascending order, start at the screw (1) and end at the screw (13).

Remove the upper cover

Remove the gasket

 Installation: Use a new gasket during assembly.

Installation in reverse order
