1 | Turn steering to side on which repair work is to be performed | ||
2 | Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit | On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m). | |
Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. | |
3 | Raise vehicle with lifting platform | ||
4 | Remove the front section of the fender liner in the left or right front fender | ||
5 | Remove bolt (1) and pull left front rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front rpm sensor (L6/2) out of steering knuckle | Installation: Fit new bolt (1). | |

6 | Disconnect electrical connectors (3) from body socket | ||
7 | Disconnect electrical connectors (3) from each other (arrows B) | Carefully disconnect electrical connectors (3). | |
8 | Remove line for rpm sensor (2) on left or right side of vehicle from brackets (arrows A) | Installation: Pay attention to correct routing of the line for the rpm sensor (2). Route the line of the rpm sensor (2) so that there is no crossover. | |
9 | Install in the reverse order | ||
10 | Read out fault memory and erase | STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system | |
