Remove/install thrust pieces with boots when brake caliper is installed

Removal

1

Remove the wheels.

Remove the brake pads.

Manually push the brake caliper to the actuation side

Provisionally install the wheel side brake pad

Avoid the possibility of the adjusting screws (2) being unscrewed completely.

Remove the protection bellows (3) of the adjusting screw (2)

Remove the protection bellows (3) from its housing in the brake caliper (1)

Utilize a screwdriver.

Unscrew the adjusting screws (2)

Impede the adjusting screw (2) from rotating, and turn the hex screw (4) of the adjusting mechanism counterclockwise (left).



Check

Check the thread of the adjusting screws (2) for corrosion

Presenting traces of corrosion and thread damage, replace the brake caliper (1).

The vehicle must not be driven with these parts removed.



CLEAN

Clean the housing of the protection bellows (3) in the brake caliper housing



Installing

Grease the thread of the adjusting screws (2)

Screw-in the bolts (2) in the adjusting mechanism

Install the protection bellows (3)

Center the new protection bellows and with the halt of a suitable support insert it in the housing.

Install the protection bellows (3) in the corresponding housing channel on the adjusting screws (2)

Make sure the lip of the protection bellows fits, without any fold, in the adjusting screw channel.

Install the brake pads.
