Separate propeller shaft part (1) from propeller shaft with splined shaft journal (2)

 The three-piece propeller shaft has two splined shaft connections. With model 639 with code (XZ1) Model generation 1, only the center propeller shaft part (1) can be detached.

Detach boot (3)

Pull off rubber mount (4) together with grooved ball bearing, rear protective cap (6) and front protective cap (7)

 When using a vise, use protective jaws for shafts. The splined shaft journal (2) can otherwise be damaged.

Check

Check rubber boot (3) for signs of damage, replace if necessary.

Check rubber mount (4) for signs of wear and damage, install new if necessary

Check grooved ball bearing for signs of wear and damage, install new if necessary



Install

Push front protective cap (7) onto the splined shaft journal (2)

 The rear protective cap (6) and front protective cap (7) are different. It must be possible to push the front protective cap (7) onto its seat without any resistance. Ensure that the front protective cap (7) is installed properly.

Press rubber mount (4) with grooved ball bearing onto splined shaft journal (2)

 Mount rear protective cap (6). Ensure that the rear protective cap (6) is installed properly. The open side of the rubber mount (4) must point in the direction of travel.

Pull on boot (3)

 Make sure that it is positioned and seated correctly.

Assemble propeller shafts

 Pay attention to correct position of the propeller shafts relative to each other.
