Adjust zero position of air suspension

Only with code (CL0) Rear lowerable/raisable air suspension

 Insert assembly device on the rear axle and lower vehicle until this abuts the assembly device. The zero position reached corresponds to an inclinometer angle of 0.82° at the rear axle.

Measure vehicle level at front and rear axles with electronic inclinometer

 Use the measured vehicle level to look up the specified values for the toe-in on the table sheet and note down these values.

Fix steering wheel in center position

Check center position of steering gear and steering wheel

 The steering gear is centered when the marking on the cap is aligned with the mark on the control valve housing. If necessary, offset the steering wheel by a maximum of one tooth.

Install wheel spreader (030)

 Install wheel spreader (030) at the front on the inside of the wheel.

 The elastic bearings of the lower transverse control arm and steering linkage produce a correspondingly large toe-in value that is reduced to the correct dimension in curb condition.

Perform wheel alignment check

 Compare the toe-in values according to the vehicle level with the actual values measured during the chassis alignment.

Adjust toe

 Adjust toe by loosening the jam nut (10f) and twisting the tie rods (10) to the specified value. Check that the bellows are not twisted after adjusting the toe-in.

 Observe permissible difference in front axle toe-in between right and left sides of the vehicle.
