Remove/install wheel hub on trailing axle

Removing

Remove brake carrier with brake caliper

Remove wheel flange ring (2)

Detach brake disk (3) from wheel hub (6)

Release collar nut (4)

 The locking tab must be sheared off completely since remains of the locking tab can damage the thread of the axle stub when unscrewing the collar nut.

Unscrew collar nut (4) and remove thrust plate (5)



Screw assembly sleeve onto the axle stub (7) and detach wheel hub (6) from axle stub (7) over the assembly sleeve



Install

Clean the machined surface of the axle stub (7) thoroughly on the entire circumference

 Using a wire brush and fine-grained emery cloth.

Coat the cleaned surface of the axle stub (7) on the entire circumference using multipurpose paste

Slide the wheel hub (6) carefully over the assembly sleeve onto the axle stub (7) and detach assembly sleeve



Install new collar nut (4) with new thrust plate (5)

 While constantly turning the wheel hub (6) tighten the new collar nut (4) until the wheel hub (6) abuts the steering knuckle. Then tighten the new collar nut (4) to the specified tightening torque, and do not slacken again.



Secure collar nut (4)

Clean centering seat on the wheel hub (6), on the wheel flange ring (2) and on both sides of the brake disk (3) thoroughly and coat using multipurpose paste

Screw in one guide pin each on two opposite bores of the wheel hub (6)



Guide pin for attaching the wheel flange ring and brake disk to the wheel hub

Mount brake disk (3) and wheel flange ring (2) over the guide pins onto the wheel hub (6)

Tighten brake disk (3) and wheel flange ring (2) on the wheel hub (6) using new bolts (1)

First tighten all bolts (1) in a crosswise pattern with the 1st stage and then tighten all bolts (1) in a crosswise pattern with the 2nd stage.


