2 | Remove brake carrier with brake caliper | ||
3 | Remove ABS sensor | ||
4 | Remove cover (10) | ||
5 | Loosen pan head screw (7) at the clamping nut (8) and unscrew clamping nut | | |
6 | Remove thrust plate (6) | ||
7 | Remove wheel hub (4) | Secure wheel hub with suitable lifting equipment. | |
8 | Remove outer tapered roller bearing (5) from wheel hub (4) | ||
9 | Remove cassette-type sealing ring (2) and inner tapered roller bearing (3) | ||
10 | Check thrust ring (1) for damage and galling | If necessary, break open thrust ring using chisel. | |
| Install | ||
11 | Install new thrust ring (1) | Coat steering knuckle with underfloor protection at fillet radius. | |
Heat up thrust ring to approx. 80 °C and slide up to the end stop on the steering knuckle within 5 minutes. | |||
12 | Grease inner tapered roller bearing (3) and install in wheel hub (4) | ||
13 | Install new cassette-type sealing ring (2) in wheel hub (4) | ||

14 | Pull on wheel hub (4) | Ensure that the cassette-type sealing ring is not damaged. | |

15 | Grease outer tapered roller bearing (5) and insert into wheel hub (4) | ||
16 | Fit thrust plate (6) | ||
17 | Tighten clamping nut (8) until all play is eliminated from tapered roller bearing seat | When tightening, spin wheel hub (4) and tap wheel hub a few times with a rubber mallet in a cross pattern. | |

18 | Check and adjust wheel bearing play | ||

19 | Turn the Fillister head screw (7) into the clamping nut (8) until tight | | |
20 | Install cap (10) | Use new seal (9) and bolts (11). | |
21 | Install ABS sensor | ||
22 | Install brake carrier with brake caliper | ||
23 | Mount wheels |
