Adjusting element
Each set of bevel gear and drive pinion has a certain assembly measure for the obtainment of the perfect contact marks between the teeth.
Due to the manufacturing tolerances the dimensions generally divert from the standard basic measure
This deviation is printed on the oblique face of the bevel gear and can be positive or negative with regard to the standard basic measure.
There are:
G
= Basic measurement
G1
= Negative measurement
G2
= Positive measurement
1 | Install the dial indicator (1) with the prolongation on the device (2) without fastening it |
2 | Attach the standard block (4) to the adjusting tool (3) and adjust the scale of the dial indicator with a pre-tension of 2 mm |
B35.31-0041-01
Example: G= 65.40 mm - Basic dimension for the drive pinion.
B35.30-0063-01
3 | Install the adjustment tool on the housing bearings in such a way that the centering tip is supported in the centralized hole of the pinion and the feeler on its highest surface |
4 | Radially turn the adjustment tool to one side and to the other until finding the point where the dial indicator's scale indicates the smallest point |
5 | Check the basic dimension observing the divergence from the value indicated on the ring gear |
B35.31-0042-01
Example: G1= 65.40 mm - 0.20 = 65.20 mm.
Negative measure
B35.30-0064-01
6 | Check the basic dimension observing the divergence from the value indicated on the ring gear |
The reference values are indicated in the ring gear and pinion (1538-0.20 (G1)) or (1712+0.20 (G2)). |
The first group of digits (1538 or 1712) represents the number of the ring gear and drive pinion set. |
The second number (-0.20 or +0.20) indicates the divergence with regard to the basic dimension. |
7 | Remove once again the pinion set from its housing and remove or add compensating washers as per measure obtained in the inspection and then install it again in its housing |
Example: G2= 65.40 mm + 0.20 = 65.60 mm
Positive measure
Example of a ring gear and drive pinion set 1538/ -0.20:
Basic measure: 65.40 mm
Divergence indicated on the ring gear: -0.20 mm
Basic measurement for drive pinion adjustment (G1) 65.20 mm
