Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

 Installation

Caution, important note: The threads in the frame floor assembly must be recut and blown out, as any adhesive residue in a thread will prevent the bolt's necessary preload force from being achieved, despite having reached the specified torque and specified angle of rotation.
If this is not observed then the faulty bolt pretension force will cause transverse forces to be applied to the bolt, which may cause the bolt to fracture



Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.

Secure vehicle on the lifting platform

Remove rear wheels



Remove/install wheels

Remove torsion bar (6r)

 Linkage rods remain attached to the wheel carriers.

Detach underfloor paneling (131) at rear

 Unscrew the rear four plastic nuts of the respective underfloor paneling and push down the underfloor paneling slightly.

 Do not bend the underfloor paneling excessively.

Unscrew fuel filter (115) at bracket

Vehicles with outboard fuel filter

 Do not disconnect fuel lines.

 Hold fuel filter to the side.

Remove exhaust heat shield (105c)

Unscrew retaining bolts from propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a)

 Installation: Attach the propeller shaft center support bearing to the underfloor.

Disconnect propeller shaft (106) from rear axle center assembly at the flange

 The flexible coupling remains on the propeller shaft.

 Tie the propeller shaft as high up as possible.

 Installation: Mount propeller shaft on rear axle center assembly.

Loosen fitted sleeves on flexible coupling.

Drift for loosening fitting sleeves in flex disks.

Support rear axle at rear axle differential and secure to prevent it from falling down



Remove rear axle mounting bolts (1c) at front and rear on one side

 Installation: Recut thread in frame floor assembly and blow out.



Lower rear axle.

 When lowering, push the rear axle away from the fuel tank using an assembly lever.

 Lower the rear axle until the bolt securing the strut rod to the rear axle carrier can be pulled out.

Unscrew bolts of tension arm (3) at wheel carrier and rear axle carrier


