1 | Remove wheels from axle concerned. | ||
After jacking up, leave the lifting device positioned at the front axle. | |||
2 | Remove ball head of drag link from steering arm. | If necessary, remove cap. | |
Installation: Replace nut. | |||

3 | Remove left and right anti-lock braking system (ABS) rpm sensor. | ||
4 | Detach plug (9) from left and right brakepad wear sensor. | | |
5 | Remove brake lines (3) from brake cylinders. | ||
6 | Remove shock absorbers (1) from bearing brackets of spring supports (6). | Shock absorber to spring support/spring pad | |
7 | Lift front axle with lifting device far enough until the springs are relieved. | ||
8 | Remove bearing caps (12) from bearing brackets of spring supports (6) and swivel torsion bar (11) downward. | Bearing cap of torsion bar to front axle bearing bracket | |
9 | Remove spring U-bolts (4) and take off clamping plates (5). | Nut, spring U-bolt to front axle | |
10 | Lower front axle and remove spring supports (6). | Installation: Apply light coating of grease to mounting holes for center bolts in spring supports (6). When the front axle is lifted, the center bolt must engage in the mounting hole. | |
11 | Pull front axle out from under vehicle. | ||
12 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
13 | Check/adjust steering stop. |
