1 | Raise vehicle at front axle until wheels can be rotated freely and support vehicle at vehicle frame | ||
2 | Remove wheels | ||
3 | Detach drag link from steering arm | The drag link detaches suddenly when it is pressed off. | |

4 | Remove ABS sensors | ||
5 | Disconnect electrical connectors (8) of left and right brakepad wear sensors | Only vehicles with disk brakes. | |
If the electrical connector (8) is not located near the brakepad wear sensor, disconnect the brakepad wear sensor plug (9) directly at the sensor. | |||

6 | Detach compressed-air lines (3) from brake cylinders | ||
7 | Detach both shock absorbers (1) from front axle | Nut, shock absorber to front axle | |
8 | Raise front axle until the springs are relieved of load | ||
9 | Secure front axle to prevent it falling | ||
10 | Detach both covers (12) from spring support (6) and remove stabilizer bar (11) | ||
11 | Remove spring U-bolts (4) and take off spring seats (5) | Nut to spring shackle of front axle | |
12 | Lower front axle and remove spring supports (6) | Installation: Lightly grease the mounting holes for the center bolts in the spring supports (6). When raising the front axle, make sure that the center bolts engage in the mounting holes. | |
Long-life grease | |||
13 | Pull front axle out from under vehicle | ||
14 | Install in the reverse order | ||
15 | Check steering stop, adjust if necessary |
