Remove automatic transmission.

Remove torque converter.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (2) from spur pinion cap (3).


Carefully remove radial shaft sealing ring (2).
Otherwise the spur pinion cap (3) and the drive shaft will be damaged.

Clean

Clean seat of radial shaft sealing ring (2) in spur pinion cap (3).



Check

Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring(2) for damage.

If damage is visible,



replace spur pinion cap (3).

Install

Moisten sealing lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (2) with transmission oil.



Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.17)

Press in new radial shaft sealing ring (2) using drift (1) far enough until drift (1) makes contact with firewall cap (3).
