AR27.19-D-0212WE | Remove/install control solenoid valves of electric controller unit | 21.12.11 |
TRANSMISSION 722.9 in MODEL 906
P27.19-2500-09
Examples of soiled control solenoid valve
A Badly soiled
(If the control solenoid valve looks like this after cleaning then it has to be replaced)
C No soiling
(Control solenoid valve OK, can be installed again)
B Slightly soiled
(Clean the control solenoid valve, if it looks like this after cleaning then it has to be replaced)

| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
| Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge | ||
1 | Remove electrohydraulic controller unit
| Disassemble/assemble | ||
2 | Detach leaf springs from control solenoid valves
3 | Pull control solenoid valves out of electric controller unit (Y3/6) | Assembly: Always install each control solenoid valve in its original installation position again. Moisten O-rings with transmission oil.
| Checking | ||
4 | Determine degree of soiling on control solenoid valves | If the control solenoid valves are soiled (picture A, B), they should generally be rinsed clean.
If the control solenoid valves show no traces of abrasion or soiling (see picture C), it is not necessary to rinse them.
| Clean | ||
5 | Clean strainers of control solenoid valves | Use a magnet first to clean the sieve of the control solenoid valves and then clean the sieve by swiveling it in fresh gear oil until the soiling is removed
| Checking | ||
6 | Check control solenoid valves after cleaning for cleanliness and signs of damage | If, after cleaning the control solenoid valves no soiling or damage is recognizable (picture C), then these control solenoid valves may be used again.
| Clean | ||
7 | Clean seats of control solenoid valves and shifting channels in the valve body assembly (7) | Pulling the control solenoid valves out of the valve body assembly enables abrasion or dirt particles to drop into the channel below. This abrasion must be removed from the valve body assembly using magnets or a pipette.
8 | Pull shift valve magnet out slightly and clean it | Use lint-free dry cloth to remove chips and abrasion from the shift valve magnets.
Assembly: Check shift valve is correctly seated in the valve body assembly.
9 | Assemble in the reverse order
| Install | ||
10 | Install electric controller unit | Installation: Clean oil pan and magnet thoroughly and replace oil filter.
11 | Conduct gear selection adaptation of renewed control solenoid valves using Star Diagnosis | After replacing control solenoid valves.
The adaptation values of the electric controller unit (VGS) must not be reset.
After replacing the following control solenoid valves the corresponding gears are to be adapted: Control solenoid valve coupling K1 (Y3/8y2) gear 6 to 5 and gear 2 to 3 Torque converter lockup clutch control solenoid valve (Y3/8y8) |
