Measuring and adjusting pressures

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid.

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Only connect and disconnect the test gauge when the engine is switched off otherwise there is a risk of scalding from hot oil spraying out

Start engine and allow to idle until required transmission oil temperature is reached, then switch off engine

 For measuring the working pressure and torque converter pressure the temperature of the transmission oil must be between 80° C and 90 °C.



Checking working pressure

Connect test pressure gauge to working pressure measuring point (1)

Start engine

Measure working pressure

Check that the working pressure is 8.5 bar  0.2 bar immediately after shifting to 2nd gear at an engine speed of approx.
1500 rpm, and greater than 3.5 bar with the engine idling. The working pressure must match to the figure indicated on the data plate.

Adjust working pressure

Adjust the working pressure using the screw (5) on the working pressure valve.

This is accessible via the oil filler neck using a suitable socket wrench with a screwdriver bit.

 If the specified working pressure is not attained, all pipes and oil-carrying components must be checked for leaks.

Turn off engine

Disconnect test pressure gauge from working pressure measuring point (1)



Checking torque converter pressure

Connect test pressure gauge to torque converter pressure measuring point (2)

 Start the engine only after connecting the test gauge.

Start engine

Measure torque converter pressure

Check that the torque converter pressure is greater than 2 bar with a forward gear engaged, with the parking brake applied and at an engine idle speed of between 450 rpm and 550 rpm.

Turn off engine

Disconnect test pressure gauge from torque converter pressure measuring point (2)
