Remove

1

Remove rear cap.

Remove retarder drive gear (1) using a suitable puller (3).

 If necessary, loosen using a plastic mallet.
Protect main shaft against damage using a suitable tool (2).

Remove outer oil pump housing (4).

 Observe installation position.

Remove driven oil pump gear (5) and driving oil pump gear (6).

Remove guide pin (7).

Carefully remove inner oil pump housing (8).


Do not use excessive force.
Otherwise, the inner oil pump housing (8) will tilt.

 Observe installation position.

Remove shim (9).



Install

Determine shim (9) for oil pump.

Coat determined shim (9) with clean transmission oil and insert.

Coat guide pin (7) and inner oil pump housing (8) with clean transmission oil.

Insert guide pin (7) into groove on transmission housing rear section and insert inner oil pump housing (8) carefully.


Do not use excessive force.
Otherwise, the inner oil pump housing (8) will tilt.

 Observe installation position of inner oil pump housing (8).

Coat driven oil pump gear (5) and driving oil pump gear (6) with clean transmission oil.

Install driven oil pump gear (5) and driving oil pump gear (6).

 Observe installation position of driven oil pump gear (5) and driving oil pump gear (6). The markings must point in the same direction.

Coat outer oil pump housing (4) with clean transmission oil.

Install outer oil pump housing (4).

 Observe installation position of outer oil pump housing (4).

16

Heat retarder drive gear (1) to approx. 120 °C and install.

 If necessary, readjust using a plastic mallet.

17

Install rear cap.
