| Remove/install | ||
| Drain coolant at radiator (1)
| Remove charge air pipe (14) from charge air cooler to charge air manifold (2)
| Remove charge air hoses (16, 18) | The charge air hoses (16, 18) must not get mixed up, only the charge air hose (red) (18) is temperature-resistant.
| |||
| Detach coolant hoses (12, 13) from top of radiator (1)
| Detach coolant hose (15)
| Remove coolant hose (19) from bottom of radiator (1)
| Separate transmission fluid line hoses (21) from transmission oil lines (20) | Only on vehicles with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling. Collect transmission oil which runs out and seal the transmission oil lines (20) with plugs.
Only separate transmission oil hose (21) from transmission oil lines (20). If transmission oil lines (20) are removed at oil cooler, oil radiator can be damaged.
| Remove condenser (3) from charge air cooler (2) and lay toward front into engine hood | Only on vehicles with code (H03) Air conditioning in front end.
| Remove charge air cooler (2) from cooler mounts (11) on left and right
| Slide radiator (1) toward front together with charge air cooler (2) | Only on vehicles with code (H03) Air conditioning in front end: Do not damage attached coolant lines (9).
| Detach fan (17) from adapter and remove upward
| Remove air deflector shield (7) at bottom left from radiator (1) | Only on vehicles with code (H03) Air conditioning in front end.
| Raise radiator (1) with suitable shackle approx. | Only on vehicles with code (H03) Air conditioning in front end.
| Lift radiator (1) upward with suitable shackle | Do not damage detachable parts and transmission fluid lines (20)
| Check radiator mounts (11) for wear | Replace, if necessary.
| Detach air deflector shields (4, 5, 6, 7, 8), transmission oil lines (20) and charge air cooler (2) from radiator (1) | Only if radiator (1) or charge air cooler (2) is replaced.
| Install in the reverse order
| Inspect transmission oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary | Only on vehicles with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling.
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
| Charge engine and check charge air hoses (16, 18) for leakage with engine running, shut off engine | Visual inspection. |
