1 | Screw/bolt | 4 | Electrical connection | 7 | Expansion reservoir
2 | Coolant hose | 5 | Coolant hose | Y27/11 | Exhaust gas recirculation positioner (engine 642.993)
3 | Circuit | 6 | Cap | Y27/17 | Exhaust gas recirculation positioner (engine 642.896/898) |
Danger ! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
| Remove/install | ||
1 | Open cap (6) of expansion reservoir (7) for coolant, relieve the overpressure and tighten down cap (6)
2 | Pinch off coolant hoses (2, 5) with clamping devices (3) | Clamp
3 | Remove coolant hoses (2, 5) at exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 oder Y27/17) | Collect the escaping coolant in a suitable container.
Installation: Inspect condition of collar clamps, replace if necessary.
4 | Disconnect electrical connection (4) at exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17)
5 | Remove screw/bolts (1) | Exhaust gas recirculation valve to housing
Set of flexible head wrenches
6 | Pull out exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17) | Installation: Replace seal.
| Clean | ||
7 | Clean sealing surfaces on exhaust gas recirculation valve housing
8 | Clean sealing surfaces on exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17) | For re-installation of a removed exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17)
9 | Install in the reverse order
10 | Connect diagnostic system, clear fault memory and perform initialization of the exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17) using the diagnostic system | For replacement of the exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17)
| |||
11 | Check coolant level, correct if necessary
Danger ! | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
12 | Perform an engine test run and check engine for leaktightness in area of exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/11 or Y27/17)
13 | Check cooling system for leaktightness |
