| Remove/install | ||
1 | Open the engine compartment | The access to perform maintenance and repair works varies according to the manufacturer and the body type. | |
2 | Remove the cylinder head cover | ||
3 | Remove the rocker mechanism | ||
4 | Remove the exhaust camshaft (1) | ||
Also check bearing shells of the intake camshaft (2) by means of a visual inspection for wear, furrows or scratches. | |||
If there is a visible or excessive wear, as well as, furrows or scratches: | |||

Replace the bearing shells of the camshafts. | |||
5 | Remove the adjustment screws (3) from the respective engine brake unit (4) | Screw of the engine braking hydraulic unit on cylinder head | |
6 | Remove the engine brake unit (4) | Installation: Check the engine brake unit (4) for damages and wear; if necessary, replace it. | |
7 | Remove the seal ring (5) from the engine brake unit (4) | Installation: Replace the sealing ring (5). | |
8 | Install on the reverse order |
