Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by escaping natural gas or by overheated compressed-gas tanks when working on natural gas powered vehicles. Risk of frostbite to parts of the body caused by escaping natural gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying compressed-gas tanks. Risk of poisoning or risk of suffocation caused by inhaling natural gas. | Remove any sources of ignition. Wear heat protective gloves. Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated.
| Notes on work safety regulations for vehicles with natural gas-powered engines | ||
1 | Disconnect ground cable from battery
2 | Remove air intake pipe
3 | Detach bracket (8) at crankcase
4 | Remove soundproofing below radiator.
5 | Remove charge air pipe (10) | Installation: Clean the sealing surfaces and replace the sealing ring. Check clamp (9), replace if necessary.
6 | Take off oil pressure line (3) from oil filter housing and from turbocharger (5) | Plug oil inlet hole.
Installation: Before installing oil pressure line (3), fill turbocharger bearing (5) through oil inlet hole with engine oil. Rotate turbocharger shaft by hand during this step so that bearing points are provided with a film of oil.
| |||
| |||
7 | Remove heat shield (6) from exhaust gas turbocharger (5) and heat shield from exhaust pipe.
8 | Remove exhaust pipe from exhaust fittings (7) | Installation: Clean sealing surfaces. Check the clamp and replace if necessary.
9 | Remove oil return flow hose (12) at turbocharger (5) | Collect engine oil that flows out.
10 | Remove control line (11) on turbocharger (5)
11 | Remove turbocharger (5) on exhaust manifold (2) and take out | Installation: Install new nuts.
| |||
12 | Remove exhaust fittings (7) from exhaust gas turbocharger (5) | Installation: Install new nuts.
| |||
13 | Install in the reverse order
14 | Check engine oil level with oil dipstick or on display, add oil if necessary* | Observe engine oil grade set in maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids.
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
15 | Start engine and allow to run in idle; oil pressure must have built up after 10 s, then allow engine to run at alternating rpms
16 | Switch off engine and check for leaks | Visual inspection |
