| Remove | ||
1 | Remove cylinder head cover
| Check | ||
2 | Set the piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC | To do this rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt.
3 | Insert feeler gauge (01) between the cam of the respective camshaft (2) and the respective cup tappet (1)
Write down test value. | |||
The valve clearance is correct if the feeler gauge (01) can be moved with little resistance.
Intake valve clearance
Exhaust valve clearance
4 | Set the piston of cylinder 1 to overlap TDC | To do this rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt.
5 | Insert feeler gauge (01) between the cam of the respective camshaft (2) and the respective cup tappet (1)
Write down test value. | |||
The valve clearance is correct if the feeler gauge (01) can be moved with little resistance.
Intake valve clearance
Exhaust valve clearance
Adjust | |||
6 | Remove camshafts (2) | ||
7 | Remove all cup tappets (1) from the cylinder head | Mark installation position.
8 | Check and measure all cup tappets (1)
If the valve clearance is is outside of the test tolerance, the difference must be determined to achieve the test tolerance and compensated for using a suitable cup tappet (1).
Cup tappet outside diameter
If the valve clearance is too large
| |||
Add difference to the height of the removed cup tappet (1).
If the valve clearance is too small
| |||
Deduct the difference from the height of the removed cup tappet (1).
9 | Install the correct cup tappet (1) | Wet cup tappets (1) and mount for the cup tappets (1) in cylinder head slightly with oil.
| Install | ||
10 | Install camshafts (2)
11 | Install cylinder head cover |
