Always use new bolts for attaching camshaft adjuster. The camshaft sprocket of the exhaust camshaft must be fitted on.
1 Fit flange shaft (5) onto camshaft with bolts (4) and tighten flange shaft fully; counterhold camshaft with double open-end wrench for this step.
Pay attention to tightening torque .
2 Fit on conical spring (3) at flange shaft and push control plunger (2) onto the the spline of the flange shaft.
3 Fit on thrust nut, do not tighten.
4 Fit timing chain onto camshaft sprocket (1) and push camshaft sprocket onto the spline of the control plunger (2).
The colored marking on the timing chain must be aligned with the marking on the camshaft sprocket.
5 Tighten thrust nut fully.
6 Hold camshaft adjuster together and unscrew thrust nut.
7 Fit on cover (9) and screw on nut (8) with the plane face pointing toward camshaft adjuster.
8 Tighten nut fully; counterhold camshaft with double open-end wrench for this step.
Pay attention to tightening torque .
9 Push on armature (7) with the chamfered side facing the nut (8).
10 Fit on bolt (6) and screw tight; counterhold armature for this step.
Pay attention to tightening torque .
