| Remove | ||
1 | Remove the cylinder head cover (4).
2 | Place the first cylinder plunger to the injection TDC. | Turn the engine by the crankshaft clockwise. Do not turn the engine by the camshaft nor counterclockwise. The marks between the camshaft/camshaft sleeve cover and the pulley / anti-vibration (arrows) have to match.
3 | Lock the intake camshaft (1). | Locking pins
Introduce the locking pin (5) into the intake camshaft gear (4) through the bore (A) on the first camshaft sleeve cover. The marks (B) in the camshaft gears are matching.
4 | Remove the cylinder head front cover (6).
5 | Unscrew the drive element (8) on the intake camshaft (1) and remove the slide rail (7). | 17mm grooved socket, with 3/8 cradle.
6 | Remove chain tensioner (5).
7 | Remove the gear (11) in the exhaust camshaft (2) with the timing chain mounted. | If necessary, lock the camshaft.
8 | Remove the sleeve covers (13) of the camshafts. | Loosen the camshaft sleeve cover (13) Torx-Head cap screws (12) evenly and in steps of a turn, until reduce counter pressure.
| Pay attention to the marking on the camshafts/ sleeve covers. | ||
9 | Remove exhaust and intake camshafts (1, 2).
| Install | ||
10 | Install exhaust and intake camshafts (1, 2). | Install: Lubricate the hydraulic elements of valve clearance offset and the camshaft cradles, and then, adjust the intake and exhaust camshafts into the axial sleeve (arrows).
Install the camshafts so that the bores (B) in the gears match and that the marks of the shafts (arrows) and the sleeve covers are aligned. Camshafts are very sensitive to breakage, which is why they should not be tensioned during installation.
When installing the camshafts, note that: - The exhaust camshaft can be identified via detent located between the two last cams and intended for reading the position sensor. - For the location of the camshaft in the cylinder head, pay attention to the existing indications on it, located between the first and second sleeve, where: (A1) is for the exhaust command (E1) is for intake command.
11 | Install the sleeve covers (13) of the camshafts. | Install the sleeve covers (13) in the same place. Tighten the Torx-Head Cap Screws (12) evenly and in steps of a turn and, if necessary
Note the marks in the camshaft/sleeve covers.
| |||
12 | Install the gear (11) in the exhaust camshaft (2) with the timing chain mounted, using new Torx-Head Cap Screws (9).
Please note the guide pin (10). If necessary, lock the camshaft.
13 | Install chain tensioner (5).
14 | Check basic position of the camshaft. | If necessary, once confirmation is performed:
Correct the basic position of the camshaft.
15 | Place slide rail (7) and screw the drive element (8) on the intake camshaft (1). | 17 mm grooved socket, with 3/8 housing.
| |||
16 | Install the front cover (6) on the cylinder head (4).
17 | Install the cylinder head cover (4). |
