Remove bolts (7) and shield (8)

For vehicles with code (MJ7) ECO Start

Pull out starter (M1) with attached lines from timing case cover (6) and press to the side

For vehicles with code (MJ7) ECO Start

 Pull starter (M1) out until the  retaining lock (5) can be inserted into the starter opening of the timing case cover (6).

Insert retaining lock (5) in the starter opening of the timing case cover (6)

For vehicles with code (MJ7) ECO Start

Place counterholder (10) onto bolts for belt pulley/vibration damper (9).

For vehicles without code (MJ7) ECO Start

 Counterholder (without code (H08) High-performance air conditioning)

Remove bolts (2) and shim (3)

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (2).



Remove retaining lock (5) from the starter opening for the timing case cover (6)

For vehicles with code (MJ7) ECO Start

 Retaining lock

Remove drive plate (1)

 Installation: The retaining pin (4) must engage in the mounting hole for drive plate (1).



Checking

9

Check ring gear for drive plate (1) for the damage

 Replace drive plate (1) if there is damage to the ring gear.

10

Install in the reverse order
