1 | Refrigerant compressor | 3 | Filling screw | 5 | Pressure side shutoff valve
2 | Inspection glass | 4 | Drain screw | 6 | Intake side shutoff valve |
Danger | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.
Topical note | Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work
1 | Turn off engine | ||
2 | Open right rear maintenance flap
3 | Open rear engine compartment flap
4 | Connect vacuum, treatment and charging equipment | Observe operating instructions of vacuum, treatment and charging equipment.
5 | Close intake side shutoff valve (6) (turn in)
6 | Turn pressure side shutoff valve (5) in by approx. 2 to 5 thread turns | Only turn pressure side shutoff valve (5) in until the pressure can read off the manometer of the vacuum, treatment and charging equipment.
7 | Run engine and switch on air conditioning | This pushes the remaining refrigerant into the system via the open pressure side.
8 | Switch off engine when the shutoff pressure of 25.5 0.5 bar is reached
9 | Close pressure side shutoff valve (5) (turn in)
10 | Extract remaining refrigerant from refrigerant compressor (1) | Open valves of vacuum, treatment and charging equipment slowly.
11 | Open filling screw (3)
12 | Extract oil for refrigerant compressor (1) | Clean extraction hose on the outside before inserting.
Commercially available devices/tools:
13 | Open drain screw (4) | Drain remaining oil completely and collect using suitable means.
14 | Install drain screw (4) with new seal | Bolt, refrigerant compressor oil drain
15 | Pour in specified quantity of oil
| Compressor oils (specification 362.0) | ||
| |||
The oil for the refrigerant compressor is hygroscopic (moisture absorbing). Immediately seal oil container tightly and immediately pour the measured oil filling capacity into the refrigerant compressor.
Total filling capacity - compressor oil for refrigerant compressor
16 | Install filling screw (3) with new seal | Bolt, refrigerant compressor oil replenishment
17 | Evacuate refrigerant compressor (1) | Evacuate refrigerant compressor (1) up to maximum achievable vacuum, but for at least 30 minutes.
18 | Close valves of vacuum, treatment and charging equipment
19 | Open both shutoff valves (5,6)
20 | Remove vacuum, treatment and charging equipment
21 | Perform function test |
