1	Assess lining thickness (1) of brake linings on front axle	 If necessary, use flashlight (2) or mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing lining thickness (1).

		If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible:
		
		Detach wheel and tire assemblies and inspect them, subject to separate repair order.
2	Assess lining thickness (1) of brake linings on rear axle	 If necessary, use flashlight (2) or mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing lining thickness (1).

		If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible:
		
		Detach wheel and tire assemblies and inspect them, subject to separate repair order.
3	Determine likely remaining distance of brake linings		AP42.10-P-4253-03EW
		 If the wear limit for the brake linings is reached, the brake linings must be replaced subject to separate repair order. Otherwise the braking effect may be impaired and people, property and environmental damage may result!
		 Per axle, the brake pad with the least lining thickness (1) is to be used for determining the likely remaining distance. In order to avoid an unscheduled workshop visit between services, it is necessary to determine the remaining distance of the present brake linings. If the remaining distance determined is smaller than the next service interval, premature brake pad replacement should be recommended to the customer.
