Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Warning | Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components.
Preparatory activity | |||
1 | Lift vehicle with lifting platform.
| |||
| Check | ||
2 | Check front shock absorbers (1) for fluid loss.
If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
A light oil film on the front piston rods (4) is permissible.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
3 | Check front piston rods (4) for surface damage, corrosion and deformation. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
4 | Check that the front steel springs (2) are correctly seated in the front spring retainers (5). | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
5 | Check front steel springs (2) for fractures. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
6 | Check that the front boots (3) are seated correctly and check for damage. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
7 | Check front elastomer bearings (6) for cracks, deformation and wear, and check for play by firmly pulling and pushing on front shock absorbers (1).
If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
The front elastomer bearings (6) must be seated with zero clearance in the housing eye and they may not be cracked or damaged.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
8 | Check rear shock absorbers (7) for fluid loss.
If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
9 | Check rear piston rods (8) for surface damage, corrosion and deformation. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
10 | Check rear shock absorber mounts (9) for cracks, deformation and wear. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
11 | Check rear elastomer bearings (11) for cracks, deformation and wear, and check for play by firmly pulling and pushing on rear shock absorbers (7).
If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
The rear elastomer bearings (11) must be seated with zero clearance in the housing eye and they may not be cracked or damaged.
If problems occur, | |||
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
12 | Check rear air springs (10) for damage and leaks. | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems are determined,
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
13 | Check that rear air springs (10) are correctly seated in upper centering (12) and lower centering (14). | If necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
If problems occur, | |||
| |||
rectify the problems. | |||
After obtaining special order.
Finishing activity | |||
14 | Lower vehicle with vehicle lift.
|
