 	Remove/install
1	Open liftgate and left rear engine maintenance flap	 Adjust the valve clearance when the engine is cold (at the earliest 20 min after switching off the engine).
2	Detach cylinder head covers	 Installation: Check sealing surface of cylinder head and cylinder head cover, remove any sealing residue. Replace seal.
		 Screw/bolt, cylinder head cover to cylinder head	*BA01.20-N-1001-01F
		 Torque wrench	*000589642100
3	Attach cranking device	 Cranking device	*407589006300
	Check
4	Turn crankshaft until the TDC marking on the flywheel (A) lines up with the adjustment edge in the inspection hole
5	Check whether cylinder 1 is at ignition TDC (top dead center of piston before power stroke)	Only for engine 489 in model NMB 671.000/312
		 Rocker arms are relieved of load, push rods of cylinder 1 can be turned easily. If necessary, turn crankshaft through 360° again.
6	Select method for adjusting valve clearance
