AD46.80-W-2001-01A | Notes on reading out the diagnostic fault code memory | Flash code/fault code for the read-out process |
Reading out the diagnostic fault code memory:
If the EHZ auxiliary steering teach-in process is accidentally started, all existing fault codes are deleted.
The diagnostic fault code memory can only be read out when the vehicle is stationary. The vehicle must previously be stopped, and the ignition switched off for at least 10 s before reading out the diagnostic fault code memory can be commenced.
1 Switch the ignition on and start the engine whilst the vehicle is stationary.
2 Contact EHZ jumper plug with the EHZ diagnostic socket on the base module.
If no EHZ jumper plug is available, pin 4 (L line) and pin 2 (ground) can be bridged with a jumper cable at the EHZ diagnostic socket.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Display the first fault code which is stored in the EHZ control unit.
The EHZ indicator lamp in the instrument now flashes once or several times, according to the fault codes which have been stored.
The display of the first fault code is followed by a pause of approximately 5 s (EHZ indicator lamp off):
either the first fault is displayed again (only one fault stored).
or the corresponding flash codes are displayed in the event of further faults.
Each fault code is followed by a pause of approximately
5 s.
4 Once all stored fault codes have been displayed once, the display starts from the beginning again (endless loop).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 Terminate reading out the diagnostic fault code memory:
Deleting the fault codes:
Disconnect the EHZ jumper plug or jumper cable from the EHZ diagnostic socket with the ignition switched on. Shut the engine off and leave the ignition switched off for at least 10 s.
Retention of the fault codes:
Shut the engine off and leave the ignition switched off, then disconnect the EHZ jumper plug or jumper cable from the EHZ diagnostic socket.
If no flash code is output following steps 1 and 2 (EHZ indicator lamp is illuminated):
Check the connecting line from the EHZ control unit to the EHZ diagnostic socket at the base module and the bridge.
Check EHZ control unit voltage supply.
Check PSM module parameterization (no, or incorrect, vehicle speed signal).
