The exhaust gas recirculation system basically consists of the following components:
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control module
Speed sensor
Microswitches 1+2
Solenoid valve
Exhaust gas recirculation valve
Exhaust gas recirculation occurs when the following conditions are met:
From approx. 100 seconds after starting the engine
Accelerator pedal position more than 15 ° before wide open throttle and engine speed between 1000 rpm-1 to 3300 rpm-1 50 rpm-1
Accelerator pedal position between 10 ° and 15 ° before wide open throttle and engine speed 1450 rpm-1 to 2500 rpm-1 50 rpm-1
Function
The speed sensor records the engine speed and passes it on to the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control module in the form of an alternating voltage.
At an accelerator pedal position of up to 15 ° before wide open throttle (microswitches 1+2 not operated) and engine speed between 1000 rpm-1 and 3300 rpm-1 the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control module energizes the solenoid valve, which releases the vacuum for the exhaust gas recirculation valve.
Between 10 ° and 15 °before wide open throttle (microswitch 1 operated) exhaust gas recirculation only occurs in a speed range between 1450 rpm-1 and 2500 rpm-1.
At wide open throttle or an accelerator pedal position less than 10 ° before wide open throttle (microswitches 1+2 operated) no exhaust gas recirculation occurs.
