B1 Oil temperature sensor

Location
The oil temperature sensor is located at the small oil pan next to the oil level check switch.
Task
The oil temperature sensor detects the current oil temperature and supplies a matching voltage signal to the CDI control unit (N3/9).
Design
The oil temperature sensor possesses an integral measuring resistor with a negative temperature coefficient (NTC).
Function
The NTC measuring resistor alters its electrical resistance in line with the oil temperature. The electrical resistance decreases as the temperature rises.
Faults in the oil temperature sensor are detected by the CDI control unit and entered in the fault memory.
