Operation step 1

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts.

Disconnect battery ground line

Unlock locking tongue (2) on connector (1) with suitable screwdriver and open catch hook (3)

Remove connector (1) from door separation point

Install protective cover on front fender and front door (6)

 To protect against paint damage on front door (6) and front fender

Press caps (4) off of screws (5) with suitable screwdriver

Remove bolts (5)

 Aid of helper required for securing front door (6), because front door (6) can detach in an uncontrolled manner from vehicle, causing damage

 Installation: Repair paint damage on bolt (5) with touch-up pencil.



Remove front door (6) upward from door hinges

 Carefully remove front door (6) from door hinges with aid of helper and lay down on suitable subsurface, otherwise the paint on the front door (6) can be damaged.

Install in the reverse order



Checking

Check gaps on front door all the way around

 If necessary, adjust front door, see: 
