| Removing | ||
| Perform parts A and B of these work instructions on vehicles up to VIN xP 605 568. Only perform part A on vehicles from FIN xP 605569 to FIN xP 780 965, since the conversion from M6 to M8 at the A-pillar has already been done in the factory. | ||
| Remove door holder | If a door holder mounting weld nut has been has been pulled through the door reinforcement plate, knock back the reinforcement plate in this area
Part A: Convert door | |||
| Drill weld nut (M 6) out of door using drill (10 mm)
| Remove drilling residues of welded-in nut (9.5 mm ball cutter)
| Apply corrosion protection to holes | Bind enclosed chips and drilling residues with wax preservative.
Part B: Convert A-pillar
| Manufacture reinforcement plate (2) (2 mm thick) as shown in drawing and weld on two M8 weld nuts (figure 1)
| Paint reinforcement plate
| Weld an eyelet (arrow) made from welding wire onto rear of grub screw (1) (figure 2)
| Tie cord of at least 1m in length to eyelet on grub screw (1)
| Screw grub screw (1) into one of the weld nuts on the reinforcement plate from the rear
| Remove seal (3) (figure 3)
.1 | Remove closure plug (5) from A-pillar (figure 3)
.2 | Pull boot (6) out of A-pillar and disconnect plug-in connector (figure 4) | On vehicles with central locking, code FZ0/FZ1, and/or electric outside rearview mirror, code F68, and/or electric power window, code V50
| Drill out weld nuts (M6) in A-pillar using drill (10 mm)
| Remove drilling residues of welded-in nut (9.5 mm ball cutter)
| Lower reinforcement plate on cord through hole (arrow) in A-pillar and fasten at lower door holder mounting hole using a countersunk head screw (figure 5)
| Remove grub screw towards the inside, pull out of A-pillar on the cord and fasten the reinforcement plate using a second countersunk head screw (figure 5)
| Transfer dimensions for drilled holes from drawing onto A-pillar and drill holes (4.8 mm dia.) (figure 6)
| Apply corrosion protection to holes | Bind enclosed chips and drilling residues with wax preservative.
| Connect reinforcement plate and A-pillar using two blind rivets (4.8x12.7)
| Remove countersunk head screws
| Install | ||
| Detach bracket (7) from new door holder (4) (figure 7)
| Guide door holder through inner and outside door panels and slide through the reinforcement plate from the rear | To make installation easier, insert a welding wire into the door from the outside through the door holder opening. Attach door holder to end of welding wire. Use the welding wire to bring door holder into installation position. On vehicles with central locking and / or electric outside mirrors and/ or power windows, be sure not to jam wires
| Place nuts (8) on door holder (4) and tighten slightly (figure 7)
| Put sealing (3) on new door holder
| Screw bracket (7) on to door holder (4) and screw on to the A-pillar with new bolts (picture 7)
| |||
| |||
| Perform a function test | The door holder should move through the brake carrier plate without bending when the door is opened and closed.
| Tighten nuts (8) on door (figure 7)
| Glue seal (3) to A-pillar (Figure 1)
.1 | Insert closure plug (5) in A-pillar (figure 3)
.2 | Restore plug-in cable connection and install boot (6) in A-pillar (figure 4) | On vehicles with central locking, code FZ0/FZ1, and/or electric outside rearview mirror, code F68, and/or electric power window, code V50 |
